Waters Technology Program

Our technology program is designed to enhance student learning while encouraging the development of critical thinking skills and creativity. National Educational Technology Standards (NETS))and guidelines are followed, ensuring that students are exposed to many different aspects of technology use. Technology instruction supports classroom curriculum and Illinois State Standards.

Our Technology program includes:

  • classroom instruction for all students
  • special projects which integrate technology and fine arts into the classroom curriculum
  • TechCrew
  • Technology Integration Pilot Program (TIPP). Through this three year pilot program Waters 6th grade students received laptop computers each year. The program ended last year, but we continue to utilize the computers to enhance student learning.
  • Waters also is a participant in the Office of Academic Enhancement's Technology Magnet Cluster Program. This project gives schools with funds to provide technology professional development to teachers as well as opportunities to share technology integration ideas and projects with other schools.

Recycle With Us! We accept ink cartridges, old cell phones, computers, monitors and other electronics for recycling. Each spring, Computers For Schools picks up donated equipment to recycle.

For more information, contact Mrs. Termini.

Technology Highlights

Tech 2010
In May, 2010, Mrs. Termini and two 8th grade students participated in Tech 2010 an annual showcase demonstrating how students in Illinois school use technology. Tech 2010 is held in the Capitol Building in Springfield and offers an opportunity for legislators to meet with the students and see their projects.  This event is also a forum for discussion of the needs and goals of technology in our schools if our students are to take their places as 21st century learners.

Tech Crew
Waters’ TechCrew meets weekly, after school. Students help maintain computers throughout the building and work with students and teachers resolve technology problems.
